Skylight

Velux Sky Light

VELUX skylights help bring the outside in, delivering unmatched quality, beautiful results, and a brighter Boxx.

Whether your space is set up as a work area, a game room, a man cave, or an art studio, you can add natural light and a sky view with VELUX fixed skylights.

These new Flat Roof Skylights are fitted in a PVC curb and topped with one of two covers: CurveTech glass or polycarbonate dome. Designed with flat roofs in mind, CurveTech glass is a curved, edge-to-edge cover that allows rainwater to easily disperse off the glass. The polycarbonate dome is also built to whisk rainwater off the skylight while featuring a clean interior appearance.

  • Silicon dioxide makes Neat® glass smoother than ordinary glass so water disperses evenly and evaporates quickly, greatly reducing water spotting.

  • Reduce unwanted outside noise by up to 25% less than a standard double pane glass, and up to 50% less than a plastic skylight.

Heating and Cooling

Each box comes equipped with energy-efficient Heating and cooling systems. Because Boxx uses energy-efficient SIPs, your heating and cooling needs will be 40% - 60% less than similar structures. Exact models may vary based on availability at the time of construction, however, heaters and AC units will be similar to the models below:

Heat Storm

  • The Heat Storm Wall Heater is Wifi enabled so you can use their app to warm up your Boxx home office studio to the perfect temperature before you get there.

  • 1000-Watt unit has two power modes: red leaf uses the full 1,000-Watts while green leaf mode uses only 500-Watts

  • This heater is safe to touch, even on the grill, making it a great choice for anyone.

  • Each unit contains Heat Storm’s Patented Heat Exchanger with HMS Technology that allows maximum heat from the infrared quartz bulbs without any heat loss from the unit.

Mitsubishi Ductless Mini-Split combo heating/cooling (optional upgrade)

  • Heating and Cooling combined into a single unit (requires an exterior condenser)

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)

Most Energy-Efficient Building Shell on the Market

At the core of all Boxx home office studios are Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). SIPs are the most energy-efficient envelope available for building floors, walls and ceilings. SIPs are built like an ice cream sandwich with two outer layers of structural wood with an inner insulating layer of rigid foam core. SIPs are prefabricated in a factory using CNC machining for precise cutting.

SIP panels are a very energy and cost-efficient building material to use. Their extraordinary strength makes them ideal for the increasingly severe weather our nation appears to be facing and along coastal areas where building codes are requiring ever more stringent strapping.

Precision CNC Precut Panels are Installed 2x Faster than Stick Framing eliminating the time for insulation subcontractor.

Liberty Cedar

Liberty Cedar is one of the top quality western red cedar wood suppliers in Rhode Island, Long Island, New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut region.

Western Red Cedar wood flooring & decking is an excellent choice with an immense visual appeal. Western Red Cedar heartwood is a reddish to pinkish brown color and often contains random streaks and bands of darker reds or browns. This wood has a distinct aromatic scent and is rated as durable and resistant to decay. Western Red Cedar boards are free from pitch and resin which makes them excellent for staining.

It is non-resinous and has a strong, spicy odor. Heartwood varies from dark reddish brown to a pinkish color and has excellent weather-resistant properties. Sapwood is light yellow. Western red cedar wood has a .31 or .37 specific gravity (density) and approximately 350 lbs in Janka hardness. The wood is generally straight grained and has a uniform but rather coarse texture. It has very low shrinkage and is very resistant to decay.
